The British Academy for Training and Development offers a training course in the installation, maintenance, design, and usage of electric pumps for those interested in understanding the importance of pumps in industrial facilities.
A pump is an integrated mechanical unit powered by an electric or thermal engine. It includes chambers connected to suction pipes and linked at the top to pressure pipes. There are dynamic rotary pumps and positive displacement pumps, which may be piston or diaphragm-operated, all functioning to convert electrical energy into motion and then into hydraulic energy to pump fluids (mostly water). Today, electric pumps are the most commonly used type, playing a key role in the operation of certain industrial facilities, especially in energy storage and electricity generation.
